Dexys Midnight Runners

Dexys Midnight Runners is an act on the Starverb influence map. Their sound grew out of Bryan Ferry, The English Beat, Van Morrison and Chairmen Of The Board. Those roots explain a lot about how Dexys Midnight Runners arrange songs and choose their tones. They run in the same orbit as The Undertones, Squeeze, The Jam, Adam and the Ants and Madness, sharing audiences, venues and reference points rather than a straight line of influence. Their influence carried into Spike Edney, The Proclaimers, Pete Wingfield, Save Ferris and The Zutons, where the same ideas turn up rearranged for a later generation. Altogether the chart holds 31 connections around Dexys Midnight Runners, reaching back through Bryan Ferry and forward to Spike Edney. Follow any of those threads to keep travelling the influence between bands and genres on Starverb.
