◇ image via WikipediaThe Proclaimers
The Proclaimers is a Alternative rock act. Their sound grew out of Orange Juice, The Temptations, Barenaked Ladies, Edwyn Collins and The B-52's. Those roots explain a lot about how The Proclaimers arrange songs and choose their tones. They run in the same orbit as Billy Bragg, Deacon Blue, The Beautiful South, Del Amitri and Annie Lennox, sharing audiences, venues and reference points rather than a straight line of influence. Their influence carried into Chike, Alabama 3, a3, The Sherlocks and The Silencers, where the same ideas turn up rearranged for a later generation. Altogether the chart holds 54 connections around The Proclaimers, reaching back through Orange Juice and forward to Chike.
