The Buggles

The Buggles is an act on the Starverb influence map. Their sound grew out of Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark, Nicki Minaj, will.i.am, Seal and George Shearing. Those roots explain a lot about how The Buggles arrange songs and choose their tones. They run in the same orbit as ABC, Thompson Twins, Ultravox, Bronski Beat and Propaganda, sharing audiences, venues and reference points rather than a straight line of influence. Their influence carried into Yes, Justice, Phoenix, Daft Punk and Erasure, where the same ideas turn up rearranged for a later generation. Altogether the chart holds 54 connections around The Buggles, reaching back through Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark and forward to Yes. Follow any of those threads to keep travelling the influence between bands and genres on Starverb.
