Korn is an act on the Starverb influence map. Their sound grew out of Ice Cube, Buddy Holly, Biohazard, House of Pain and Sick of It All. Those roots explain a lot about how Korn arrange songs and choose their tones. They run in the same orbit as Coal Chamber, Snot, Primer 55, Deftones and Dry Kill Logic, sharing audiences, venues and reference points rather than a straight line of influence. Their influence carried into Slipknot, Coal Chamber, Limp Bizkit, Incubus and Orgy, where the same ideas turn up rearranged for a later generation. Altogether the chart holds 39 connections around Korn, reaching back through Ice Cube and forward to Slipknot. Follow any of those threads to keep travelling the influence between bands and genres on Starverb.
