Hole is a Rap act. Their sound grew out of Daisy Chainsaw, Veruca Salt, Sonic Youth, Fleetwood Mac and GWAR. Those roots explain a lot about how Hole arrange songs and choose their tones. They run in the same orbit as Jack Off Jill, Veruca Salt, Nirvana, Angelfish and PJ Harvey, sharing audiences, venues and reference points rather than a straight line of influence. Their influence carried into Dead Sara, The Superjesus, Under Feet Like Ours, Flooding and yeule, where the same ideas turn up rearranged for a later generation. Altogether the chart holds 75 connections around Hole, reaching back through Daisy Chainsaw and forward to Dead Sara.
