◇ image via WikipediaThe B-52's
The B-52's is a Alternative rock act. Their sound grew out of John Lennon, The Go-Go's, Sleater-Kinney, Trout Mask Replica and Morgan Page. Those roots explain a lot about how The B-52's arrange songs and choose their tones. They run in the same orbit as Oingo Boingo, Talking Heads, Eurythmics, The Cars and Squeeze, sharing audiences, venues and reference points rather than a straight line of influence. Their influence carried into Reflektor, Double Fantasy, The Proclaimers, Junior Senior and The Sugarcubes, where the same ideas turn up rearranged for a later generation. Altogether the chart holds 64 connections around The B-52's, reaching back through John Lennon and forward to Reflektor.
