The Go-Go's is a Alternative rock and Punk rock act. Their sound grew out of More Specials, Stacey Q, Berlin, Fanny and The Capitols. Those roots explain a lot about how The Go-Go's arrange songs and choose their tones. They run in the same orbit as Berlin, Belinda Carlisle, The Cars, The Fixx and Divinyls, sharing audiences, venues and reference points rather than a straight line of influence. Their influence carried into Nona Hendryx, Love. Angel. Music. Baby., Dum Dum Girls, Sweeter Than Fiction and Kitten, where the same ideas turn up rearranged for a later generation. Altogether the chart holds 59 connections around The Go-Go's, reaching back through More Specials and forward to Nona Hendryx.
