Tyla is a Contemporary R&B and Pop act. Their sound grew out of Tricky Stewart, The Quireboys, Michael Jackson, Rihanna and Britney Spears. Those roots explain a lot about how Tyla arrange songs and choose their tones. They run in the same orbit as FLO, Jae Stephens, Chloe x Halle, Ayra Starr and Joyce Wrice, sharing audiences, venues and reference points rather than a straight line of influence. Their influence carried into Burna Boy, WizTheMc, Damiano David, Nile Rodgers and Cardi B, where the same ideas turn up rearranged for a later generation. Altogether the chart holds 60 connections around Tyla, reaching back through Tricky Stewart and forward to Burna Boy. Follow any of those threads to keep travelling the influence between bands and genres on Starverb.
