◇ image via WikipediaBackstreet Boys
Backstreet Boys is a Contemporary R&B and Dance-pop act. Their catalogue also touches Pop. Their sound grew out of Michael Jackson, The Jackson 5, Falco, Spice Girls and Ace of Base. Those roots explain a lot about how Backstreet Boys arrange songs and choose their tones. They run in the same orbit as Westlife, Five, 98º, A1 and BBMak, sharing audiences, venues and reference points rather than a straight line of influence. Their influence carried into Exit Eden, Jonas Brothers, Aaron Carter, NSYNC and Akino, where the same ideas turn up rearranged for a later generation. Altogether the chart holds 104 connections around Backstreet Boys, reaching back through Michael Jackson and forward to Exit Eden.
