◇ image via WikipediaBloc Party
Bloc Party is a Indie rock and Rap act. Their sound grew out of Paul Epworth, Gang of Four, Hounds of Love, Dan Smith and Art Brut. Those roots explain a lot about how Bloc Party arrange songs and choose their tones. They run in the same orbit as Interpol, We Are Scientists, The Bravery, Death from Above 1979 and Tokyo Police Club, sharing audiences, venues and reference points rather than a straight line of influence. Their influence carried into Tourist History, Paul Epworth, Made in Japan, Enter Shikari and The Maccabees, where the same ideas turn up rearranged for a later generation. Altogether the chart holds 83 connections around Bloc Party, reaching back through Paul Epworth and forward to Tourist History.
