◇ image via WikipediaEvanescence
Evanescence is a Rap act. Their sound grew out of Nine Inch Nails, Metallica, Björk, Soundgarden and The Smashing Pumpkins. Those roots explain a lot about how Evanescence arrange songs and choose their tones. They run in the same orbit as We Are the Fallen, Halestorm, Flyleaf, Pitty and HIM, sharing audiences, venues and reference points rather than a straight line of influence. Their influence carried into Zhiar Ali, Esprit D'Air, We Are the Fallen, 12 Stones and Teenage Dream, where the same ideas turn up rearranged for a later generation. Altogether the chart holds 71 connections around Evanescence, reaching back through Nine Inch Nails and forward to Zhiar Ali. Follow any of those threads to keep travelling the influence between bands and genres on Starverb.
